In a work-like atmosphere, L.E.N. Business and Language Institute:

  • Provides computer and clerical training to prepare individuals for employment in office environments
  • Offers instruction in English as a Second Language for those individuals who have limited English proficiency

In addition to skills training, individuals are provided with guidance regarding

  • Appropriate workplace behavior
  • Efficient work habits
  • Job search techniques

All classes are taught in English as our goal is to assist those students who are learning English in gaining functional language skills as quickly as possible:

  • An English language environment is supported and encouraged
  • Individuals learn English not only during their class time, but use their language skills throughout the day

Group classes are small:

  • English, bookkeeping, mathematics, filing and job search skills are taught in small groups
  • Maximum number of students in these classes is 25 with typical class size being 12-15

Computer instruction is individualized:

  • Students progress according to individual ability
  • Computer skills are learned and practiced through hands-on instruction
  • Students perform clerical projects such as data entry for the nonprofit community

L.E.N. Business and Language Institute:

  • Maintains close ties with the business community which are maintained through regularly bringing business representatives to the school as guest speakers

  • Develops and maintains employment relationships with area employers who not only  offer internships for LEN students, but also employ LEN graduates

  • Works with disadvantaged minorities who may need extra support in order to gain marketable skills
